Sommario: A plethora of information are released in the form of multimedia data because. Multimedia data are easy to be explained to and learned by human users, due to their powerful cognitive structure, but they are tough to be understood (w.r.t. the content) by machines.
In this talk, I will introduce some knowledge models particularly useful to manage image and un-structured text data. In particular, I will present an image ontology, used in intelligent image retrieval system, together with an image Knowledge-Based System. Several useful applications will be described, in different application domains, in particular for e-gov applications, anti-spam algorithms and topic evolution description in movie databases.
